I started within health and fitness as a group exercise leader and gym instructor; firstly I gained my certificate in exercise to music, gaining also boxing, circuits, Pilates and core, hula hoop and kettle bells quickly and started within a small council run gym. When I started college, I completed my personal training and soon after, my massage qualification which allowed me to work through University within the health and fitness field.
I studied for my degree in Sports therapy at the University of Kent, where I enjoyed experiencing the injury process for a whole new angle, treating rather than being injured! Whilst at University, I worked within Virgin Active health clubs, David Llloyds, Fitness First, Fulham Football club and the University sports therapy clinic. I completed my work experience at Purus Active Health where I was then offered a full time position. At Purus Active Health, I was in a team of three Osteopaths, two masseurs and one other personal trainer. I learnt about the clinic set up, the referral between practitioners and the day to day running and organisation of the clinic. I enjoyed my time at Purus immensely but felt the time was right to move on. I started Shape 2 fit on a freelance basis, I would move around treating clients within their own homes and local green spaces gaining a good reputation as a reliable, efficient and excellent trainer therapist with a lot of experience.
Whilst working freelance, I added the sports coaching part to Shape 2 fit, I started working for a couple of children’s groups and focusing on children with learning difficulties, such as Autism, ADHD and dyspraxia as I did a lot of this through my dissertation.
I opened Shape 2 fit, Wimbledon in January 2011 after deciding that this is the way I wanted the company to progress. I enjoyed the freelance work but am a lot happier and more fulfilled being within one place.
I have recently qualified as an acupuncturist for sporting injuries and for cosmetic reasoning. I really enjoy this traditional therapy that can help so many of the injuries we see at the clinic every day, and can treat clients a lot quicker into their injury journey. The cosmetic acupuncture fascinates me through its reduction of fine lines and wrinkles to beat the aging progress.
I am passionate about health and fitness, always striving for new ideas, theories and practices that will help my customers on their road to recovery and success, continually my learning at every opportunity. I plan to study for my masters in the foreseeable future, with Osteopathic techniques, nutrition and beaming all on my list of courses to attend.
