Originally developed by Joseph Pilates, this form of physical activity has been developed to use the mind to control the muscles. It focuses on the core postural muscles, aligning and supporting the spine and teaching breath awareness. It aims to balance the body and strengthen the deep torso muscles. Pilates works the body and mind simultaneously to create all round well being. In addition, pilates increases your circulation and helps to sculpt your body and also strengthens the body’s “core” . People who do pilates on a regular basis feel that they have a better posture, they seem to be less prone to injury and experience a better level of health in general.
